Synopsis
Sometimes quiet little boys have terrifying secrets.

The Day the World Ended is a creepy, suspenseful sci-fi thriller starring Randy Quaid (Independence Day, National Lampoon's Vacation Series) and the beautiful Nastassja Kinski (Town and Country, Terminal Velocity). It also features terrifying effects by legendary Academy Award winning monster-maker Stan Winston (A.I. Artificial Intelligence, Jurassic Park, Aliens).

Dr. Jennifer Stillman (Kinski) is a New York City therapist who takes a job as an elementary school psychiatrist in the rural town of Sierra Vista, Nevada. Her presence is greeted with a collective cold shoulder, and it soon becomes clear that this backward little town has a deep, dark secret that its inhabitants are determined to keep buried. When she befriends an odd and gifted young boy, Dr. Stillman finds herself in the middle of a battle between a vengeful and horrifying monster and the unspeakable evil at the heart of the town itself.

Empire Review
Twilight zone did it first - 3.5 out of 5  (8/26/2002)
THE DAY THE WORLD ENDED is the final film in the series of creature features from Stan Winston studios and I have to say that it's my least favorite of the bunch. The original DAY THE WORLD ENDED was a completely different film altogether. That film was one of the first exploitation classics and it focused on the aftermaths of a nuclear war that forced five strangers to live in a house together until a strange mutant came in and turned their new life into a living hell.
